Disseminating K-12 Health Literacy Efforts

Funded by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region (NNLM MAR), Advance African Development (AAD) in collaboration with other agencies,  offered a one-day symposium on March 24, 2017 at the University of Pittsburgh to: establish a learning collaborative, identify current and persistent K-12 health literacy gaps, and  strategize action for sustainable K-12 health outcomes. The long term goal is to secure funding, to scale-up sustainable collaborative K-12 health literacy efforts in Allegheny County and across the nation.

U.S. Conference on African Immigrant and Refugee Health

Funded by the Office of Minority Health Resource Center,  Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Advance African Development in partnership with other agencies, organized a  three day national conference held in Pittsburgh, PA from September 18-21, 2014 and attended by over 400 participants from across the nation. Attendees shared knowledge needed to build a “national agenda for action” to end disparities among this population.
